ADJUNCT FACULTY
Samuel J. Arena Jr. is a partner in the Philadelphia office of Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young, LLP, where he has concentrated his practice on insurance law, fidelity law, and surety law for over 36 years. A leader in Stradley Ronon鈥檚 Insurance Practice Group, and the Chair of the firm鈥檚 Fidelity and Surety Practice Group, he represents insurance companies nationally in complex insurance coverage, extra-contractual liability, and fidelity and surety matters. Arena is a graduate of Ursinus College, BA, magna cum laude (1979) and Villanova Law, JD, cum laude (1983). At Villanova, he was an associate editor of the Villanova Law Review and a member of the Order of the Coif.
Arena is a fellow of the American College of Coverage Counsel and has been actively involved in the American Bar Association, Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) and Litigation Section throughout his legal career. He has held a variety of leadership positions within TIPS, including serving as a member of Section Council (the Section鈥檚 governing body), chair of the Book Publishing Editorial Board, chair of the Fidelity and Surety Law Committee, and Vice-Chair of the Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee. Arena also has served on the TIPS Financial Committee, TortSource Editorial Board, Long Range Planning Committee, Task Force on Strategic Alliances, Task Force on Insurance and Corporate Counsel Involvement and Task Force on Corporate Governance Institute. In 2019, he received the American Bar Association鈥檚 Martin J. Andrew Award for Lifetime Achievement in Fidelity and Surety Law.
Arena has been a frequent speaker, panelist, author and program chair on current insurance coverage law, fidelity law and surety law topics. As an adjunct professor of law at Villanova Law, he created and teaches Advanced Insurance Law: Coverage Disputes with Professor Chaim Saiman.
Christopher F. Bagnato is the founding partner, shareholder and chief financial officer of Jensen Bagnato, PC. Bagnato has specialized in all aspects and areas of Litigation, including Immigration, Criminal, Family and Civil Litigation. His law firm is a general practice law firm that handles all legal matters, up to and including Personal Injury, Workers Comp, Bankruptcy, Medical Malpractice, Civil Rights and Employment Law.
Bagnato is a legal analyst for Telemundo62- NBC10 News, providing legal opinions on live newscasts in Spanish on matters such as child sexting arrests in Chester County and the use of civil depositions as evidence against actor Bill Cosby for sexual assault.
Bagnato obtained his Bachelor of Science in education in spanish language from West Chester University. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from Indiana University Maurer School of Law, completing his third year while visiting Villanova Law. He later went on to obtain an LLM in trial advocacy from Temple University Beasley School of Law.
Brian Benjet is an accomplished business lawyer, litigator and bankruptcy practitioner with nearly 20 years of experience. He currently serves as partner at DLA Piper.
He focuses on complex business and commercial litigation and government investigations, as well as bankruptcy and restructuring. Benjet鈥檚 litigation representations include healthcare, ERISA, outsourcing contracts and insurance disputes.
Benjet assists public and private, US and multinational companies in designing and implementing risk-based compliance programs. These enterprise-wide programs include conducting risk assessments, drafting codes of ethics and related policies and creating and implementing training programs. He provides advice on governance issues such as disclosing compliance issues to boards of directors, auditors, investors and potential M&A partners; crisis response; and litigation management topics including issues related to FAS 5 loss contingency reserving.
Benjet uses his extensive in-house experience and integrates this advice with other corporate functions, including operational risk, fraud and audit, helping to ensure compliance for the company in a manner that strengthens the business.
Edward J. Bonett, Jr. is of counsel with the law firm Genova Burns LLC specializing in Labor Law. Bonett represents employers in all aspects of labor relations, including collective bargaining with unions, defending and resolving employment-related claims and advising on rules and regulations. Many of his clients are in the healthcare industry. Prior to entering private practice, Bonett was a labor law attorney with the NLRB in the Philadelphia regional office for 22 years, where he litigated many complex cases and helped negotiate dozens of settlements. Bonett is also a pro bono mediator with the EEOC.
He holds a bachelor鈥檚 degree from Drexel University, an MBA from 蜜桃TV and a law degree from Temple University Beasley School of Law.
Ronald N. Brown, III is counsel in Skadden鈥檚 litigation practice. Brown represents corporations, directors and officers in litigation involving corporate governance matters and the federal securities laws. He has represented clients in hostile takeovers, proxy contests, mergers, tender offers, securities fraud suits, derivative suits, appraisal actions and other corporate and commercial disputes. His practice also includes advice on the Delaware law of corporations, limited partnerships and limited liability companies in connection with mergers and other transactions.
Brown received his BA from Washington & Lee University, graduating magna cum laude, and he received his JD from Villanova Law, summa cum laude, and as associate editor of the Villanova Law Review.
John Crutchlow is a partner at Youman & Caputo LLC where he represents whistleblowers in qui tam cases brought under the False Claims Act and before federal agency whistleblower programs, including the SEC, CFTC, FinCEN and IRS. Crutchlow reentered private practice in 2023 after a lengthy career with the federal government. He spent a decade as an assistant United States attorney in the Civil Division of the U.S. Attorney鈥檚 Office in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania where he focused on cases arising under the False Claims Act and Anti-Kickback Statute, frequently involving health care fraud. He also served as a trial attorney with the Securities and Exchange Commission where he litigated securities enforcement actions in federal court.
As an AUSA, Crutchlow received a Director鈥檚 Award for Superior Performance from the Executive Office of US Attorneys, an Honor Award for Advancing Excellence and Innovation in Investigations from the US Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General (HHS-OIG) and a Commendation awarded by the DOJ鈥檚 Civil Rights Division for his work enforcing the Americans with Disabilities Act.
John began his career as a litigation associate at Duane Morris LLP. He received his BA from 蜜桃TV and his JD, magna cum laude, from the 蜜桃TV Charles Widger School of Law.
Mary DeFusco,Esq., serves as director of training for the Defender Association of Philadelphia. She is responsible for the initial training of all new attorneys as well as the continuing legal education of experienced public defenders.
DeFusco has served as the Defender Association's representative on the Oversight Committees of the Philadelphia Treatment Court and the Project Dawn Court. DeFusco, along with representatives of the Court and District Attorney's Office, was instrumental in the creation of these internationally renowned courts, which integrate drug treatment and sexual trauma recovery within the criminal justice system.
DeFusco is also a co-founder and president of the Board of Directors of Dawn鈥檚 Place, a unique program in Philadelphia serving the needs of trafficked, pimped and prostituted women.
Since joining the Defender Association of Philadelphia, DeFusco served as deputy chief of the Municipal Court Unit for eight years and as a trial attorney for five years. She received her BA, cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania and her JD from Temple University Beasley School of Law.
DeFusco teaches trial advocacy at both Temple University Beasley School of Law and Villanova Law. She teaches nationally and locally for the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA). DeFusco is on the faculty at the National Defender Training Project in Dayton, OH, and also teaches at the Pennsylvania Defender Trial Skills Training Program in Carlisle, PA.
DeFusco was a past recipient of the Cesare Beccaria Award for contributions to the cause of justice and the advancement of legal education and the Gideon Award in recognition of dedication to the principles of equal access to the criminal court system and efforts to improve the quality of indigent defense.
Amy Gershenfeld Donella is a senior attorney with the Federal Capital Habeas Project. Following law school, Donnella worked as a litigator, teacher, in-house attorney and government attorney. She began representing death-sentenced clients as a volunteer in Georgia in the early 1980鈥檚. She continued her capital defense work as a sole practitioner while raising her four children. In 2008, Donnella left private practice to serve as an assistant federal defender for the Federal Community Defender for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Capital Habeas Unit.
Donnella has continued representing death-sentenced prisoners in all stages of their post-conviction litigation in state and federal court, in end-stage litigation and clemency and in resentencing ever since. She has argued capital cases before the Third, Fourth, Eighth and Eleventh Circuit Courts of Appeals with some good results and some spectacular defeats.
In 1997, she co-authored "Racial Attitudes and the Death Penalty," Journal of Applied Social Psychology, 1997, 1468-1487, a subject on which she has continued to lecture. In 1999, she won sentencing relief from the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals in Collier v. Turpin, 177 F.3d 1184 (11th Cir. 1999), and was recognized in 2001 by the Georgia criminal defense bar for her work helping to get the electric chair declared unconstitutional in Georgia.
In April, 2015, she won a new trial for a client convicted on the basis of false DNA evidence. In 2017, she obtained a grant of clemency from President Obama for an intellectually disabled death-sentenced client.
Donnella received her BA in 1976 from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and her JD in 1979 from the Harvard Law School.
Anthony Donofrio is a former managing director at Hamilton Lane Advisors, a NASDAQ- listed company that is one of the world鈥檚 leading private markets investment management firms. During his 16-year career with Hamilton Lane, he served as both head of Legal Transactions and chief operating officer of the company鈥檚 Co-Investment program. In his capacity as head of Legal Transactions, Donofrio led a large team of attorneys in negotiating and executing thousands of private equity and credit investments. As COO of the Co-Investment program, Donofrio had oversight of all operational aspects of Hamilton Lane鈥檚 $5 billion co-investment strategy, leading the efforts of various teams in closing over a hundred private investment transactions each year.
Prior to working at Hamilton Lane, Donofrio was in-house legal counsel at BTG International, a technology commercialization firm based in London. Earlier in his career, he spent several years as an associate attorney in the Corporate Department of the law firm of Drinker Biddle & Reath, where his practice focused on mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions and general corporate matters.
Donofrio is an alumnus of 蜜桃TV, where he graduated, cum laude, with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration (finance concentration); he earned a Juris Doctor degree from Northwestern University School of Law.
Lawrence Farnese was elected to the Pennsylvania State Senate in 2008 and served three terms representing The First Senatorial District until November 2020. He earned a bachelor鈥檚 degree in political science from 蜜桃TV and graduated from Temple University Beasley School of Law in 1994. While serving in the Senate, Farnese was considered a champion for city and state economic development and was seen as one of the State鈥檚 most passionate public safety advocates because quality of life is crucial to the long-term success of the neighborhood. Having served in one of the Commonwealth鈥檚 most diverse LGBTQ+ communities, Farnese is a passionate, outspoken supporter of equality and non-discrimination legislation.
Farnese served as the Senate Democratic Caucus secretary from 2014-2020. He also served as the Democratic chairman of the Judiciary Committee and was a member of the Banking and Insurance, Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure, Rules and Transportation Committees. He holds a board position with Casa Farnese, the first affordable senior housing complex in Philadelphia.
Farnese enjoys spending time with family and friends and mentoring his little brother as a volunteer with Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Aryeh Friedman is a global privacy, ethics and compliance consultant to multinational companies with expertise in the data, life sciences and telecommunications industries. He was, for over a decade, associate general gounsel, chief compliance officer and chief privacy officer at Dun & Bradstreet where he oversaw Dun & Bradstreet鈥檚 global privacy and compliance programs which cover anti-corruption, export controls and trade regulation, competition law, lobbying and other regulatory compliance. Friedman had previously served as vice president, assistant general counsel and chief privacy officer at Pfizer, and Chief Counsel, Competition at Wyeth with a similar role at AT&T and British Telecom.
Friedman also teaches Business Ethics at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and the 蜜桃TV Charles Widger School of Law. He has spoken and published extensively on legal ethics, privacy and compliance as well as on law and emerging technologies. Friedman is chair of the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) Compliance and Ethics Network and on the Artificial Intelligence Task Force of the Antitrust Section of the American Bar Association. Friedman holds a BS from Cornell University and JD from the New York University School of Law.
Laura Genovese's practice focuses on providing trademark, copyright, trade dress, domain name and internet advice, including prosecution and enforcement. She develops and oversees the implementation of strategic plans for businesses. She also counsels and represents clients in litigation matters before the courts and inter partes proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. She has initiated and defended proceedings before domain name arbitration panels under the Uniform Domain-Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP).
Genovese has been involved with the Philadelphia Chapter of the Copyright Society of the USA since its formation in the early 1990's, rising to Chapter chairman in 1999. She served on the Board of Trustees of the Copyright Society of the U.S.A. from 2002 to 2005.
A graduate of Bryn Mawr College, she received her MA in the history of art from the University of Pennsylvania in 1986 and graduated, cum laude, from Villanova Law in 1989.
Michael Gilleece serves as general counsel/chief legal officer and senior vice president of Ansell Limited, a 125+ year-old multinational public company (ASX: ANN) manufacturing and marketing personal protective equipment (PPE). Ansell has complex global operations and reach with 14,000+ employees, a presence in 55+ countries, sales in 100+ countries and legal entities established in 35 countries. As the head of Ansell鈥檚 global law department, he oversees a broad range of responsibilities, including aspects of compliance, governance, risk management and other customary functions and initiatives. Prior to joining the ranks of in-house counsel, he was an associate at the law firms Pepper Hamilton LLP (now Troutman Pepper Hamilton Sanders LLP) in Philadelphia, PA and Porzio, Bromberg & Newman, PC in Morristown, NJ.
Gary S. Glazer was elected to the Court of Common Pleas in Philadelphia in November 1991. He has served as a trial judge in the Criminal and Civil Divisions, hearing a wide variety of matters in both jury and non-jury settings. He has presided over capital and non-capital homicides, serious criminal offenses, medical/legal malpractice cases, class actions, administrative appeals, real estate cases, tax cases and general civil litigation.
Judge Glazer is currently a Supervising Judge in the Commerce Court in the Court of Common Pleas, overseeing complex commercial litigation. In December 2011, he was appointed by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court as the administrative judge of the Philadelphia Traffic Court. He was placed in charge of a multiyear effort to reform a court that was beset by institutional corruption on a massive scale and which was ultimately reorganized into an efficient, modern, and honest institution now known as the Traffic Division of the Philadelphia Municipal Court.
Prior to the bench, Judge Glazer served as an Assistant United States Attorney in Philadelphia for over ten years. He served as chief of the Fraud Section, where he supervised and prosecuted complex fraud and judicial corruption matters. Judge Glazer also engaged in the private practice of law in Philadelphia and Chicago.
In 2005, Judge Glazer was the recipient of a Fulbright Senior Specialist Grant to lecture (in French) at the Ecole Nationale de la Magistrature in Paris, France, concerning the American judicial process and has also lectured in Russia, the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom and Belarus. He is an adjunct instructor in Trial Practice at Villanova Law.
Judge Glazer is a graduate of Ohio State University, cum laude, with distinction (1972), where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and received his law degree from Case Western Reserve University (1975).
Richard Goldberg is a partner in the law firm of Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard and Smith in the Cybersecurity and Data Privacy practice, helping victims of cybercrime prepare for and respond to data breaches. Prior to his move to the private sector, he served as an Assistant United States Attorney for over 27 years in the United States Attorney鈥檚 Office in Philadelphia. During his time in that office, he served as chief of trials, supervising all criminal trials, and, in separate appointments, chief of the Economic Crime Section, the Narcotics Section and the Major Crimes Section (violent crimes and terrorism). During this time, as crisis management coordinator, he served as chief law enforcement attorney for the Republican National Convention, the Papal visit and the Democratic National Convention when they occurred in Philadelphia.
He also served for over twenty years as one of the Department of Justice鈥檚 specially trained Computer Hacking and Intellectual Property Section prosecutors. He was the recipient of a Fulbright grant to the City University of Hong Kong and a Wasserstein Fellowship from Harvard Law School. He has received two Director鈥檚 Awards from the Department of Justice, the Chief Postal Inspector鈥檚 Award and several citations from the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Director of the United States Secret Service and other agencies.
He taught courses on Advanced White-Collar Crime, Identity Theft, Trade Secrets, Advanced Evidence, National Security Event Preparation, Crisis Management, Protest Preparation and Response and both Basic and Advanced Criminal Advocacy for the Department of Justice at the National Prosecutor鈥檚 School in South Carolina and in various locations around the country.
Before joining the federal government, he worked in the Philadelphia District Attorney鈥檚 Office as deputy district attorney in charge of the Investigations Division, chief of the Motions Unit and as an assistant district attorney in the Trial and Law Divisions.
He is a graduate of Brown University and Georgetown University Law Center.
John C. Goodchild III's litigation practice focuses on restructuring and distressed situations. He represents fiduciaries, professionals and trustees in actions relating to breach of duty, especially in matters concerning insolvency and with regard to defaults in securitizations. He represents sponsors and plans in connection with employee benefits matters relating to distressed situations. He counsels and represents financial institutions with regard to consumer-facing practices relating to default and collections. He represents secured and unsecured creditors in bankruptcy litigation.
John is co-founder and lead coordinator of the Morgan Lewis Trial Academy, an intensive weeklong trial training program for the firm鈥檚 most senior associates. He serves as the chair of the firm's Fiduciary Review Committee.
As an adjunct faculty member at Villanova Law, he teaches Computer Applications in Litigation.
Christopher M. Harvey is the managing member in the law firm of Harvey Ballard & Bornstein, LLC, where he heads up the estate planning and tax practice areas. In addition, he is of counsel to the law firm of Harvey, Casterline & Vallini, LLP located in Columbia, SC. Harvey focuses on the legal transactions surrounding estate and tax planning. He frequently lectures around the country on these topics for accountants and attorneys earning Continuing Professional and Legal Education credit. He earned his BS in accounting from the University of Delaware, cum laude, and received his JD and Master of Laws in Taxation from the Villanova Law, magna cum laude. He is also a certified public accountant.
Derek Hines is a veteran federal prosecutor who investigates and prosecutes high-profile criminal cases for the United States Department of Justice. He has prosecuted cases throughout the country involving public corruption, white-collar crime and organized crime. Hines received the Attorney General鈥檚 Distinguished Service Award for his prosecution of police corruption in Baltimore, which was featured on HBO鈥檚 鈥淲e Own This City鈥� and Amazon鈥檚 鈥淚 Got a Monster.鈥�
Hines played basketball at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA, where he was a finalist for the NCAA鈥檚 top award for athletic and academic excellence. While attending the 蜜桃TV Charles Widger School of Law, Hines was a managing editor of the Villanova Law Review and received the Dr. Arthur Clement Pulling Award for Outstanding Contributions. Hines graduated, magna cum laude, and received the Faculty Recognition Graduation Award.
After law school, Hines was a law clerk for United States District Judge Lawrence F. Stengel. Hines then worked for a national law firm and then as special counsel to the former Director of the FBI, Louis J. Freeh, in his appointment overseeing the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill litigation. Next, Hines moved to Montana where he became the general counsel of the Chippewa Cree Tribe of the Rocky Boy鈥檚 Reservation and litigated multiple cases advocating for the rights of Native Americans. Since 2015, Hines has been a federal prosecutor with the DOJ serving in various leadership roles throughout the United States. Hines is also a volunteer firefighter for the Barren Hill Volunteer Fire Company in Montgomery County, PA.
Louis Hockman retired from the practice of law after a more than thirty-year career as a trial attorney with broad experience serving as lead counsel in thousands of civil cases to serve as a mediator, arbitrator and legal educator. As a litigator, he represented large insurance, retail, restaurant, property management, banking and hospitality concerns with consistently positive outcomes.
Hockman earned his JD and MA in Historic Preservation from Boston University in 1988. He received his BA from Dickinson College in 1984 and an MBA from Temple University Fox School of Business in 2001. Upon retirement, he obtained certification as a professional mediator from Cornell University and has received extensive training from the Program on Negotiation and the American Institute of Mediation.
Hockman is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, as well as the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the US District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, the US District Court for the District of New Jersey, and the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

Ron Holinsky has over 20 years of experience in regulatory and legal affairs in the financial services industry. He has practiced law from various perspectives, including government, law firm and in-house (global asset management firm and full-service financial services firm). Currently, Holinsky serves as the chief counsel of the fund's management business for an insurance holding company and offers a broad range of legal, compliance and business strategy-related services to investment advisers, broker-dealers, insurance companies, public and private (hedge) funds, banks and public companies. His specialties include investment advisory and fund legal and compliance matters, public and private fund and product formation and structuring, portfolio management issues, private placements and government liaison.
The Honorable Renee Cardwell Hughes is a highly experienced executive, attorney, independent board member, qualified financial expert, experienced arbitrator and retired judge with more than 15 years of experience on the bench. Judge Hughes is the CEO of the Hughes Group, whose mission is to help management teams refine, internalize and execute their corporate mission. In addition to strategic planning and change management, the Hughes Group provides leadership development and executive coaching. In 2021, Judge Hughes completed an engagement as President and CEO of Opportunities Industrialization Center (Philadelphia OIC) a workforce development nonprofit that impacted the lives of more than 1,500 individuals. Her other leadership roles include CEO of The American Red Cross of Eastern Pennsylvania, the fourth largest market in the $3 billion American Red Cross system. Judge Hughes received her undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and her JD from Georgetown University Law Center. She received an honorary Doctorate of Science from Thomas Jefferson University in 2022.
Adam Kanji is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and before the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
Kanji graduated from Fordham University in 2014 with a BS in Psychology and History and a minor in Business Administration. He received his Juris Doctorate from 蜜桃TV Charles Widger School of Law in 2017 and also received a Master's in Business Administration from 蜜桃TV.
During his time at Villanova Law, he gained experience in immigration law, which he used while he served as a student attorney for Villanova鈥檚 Farmworker Legal Aid Clinic. He also worked as a teaching assistant for Property and Civil Procedure classes and published a blog post 鈥淐an Soccer Teams Be Liable for Child Abuse in England?鈥� in 2017.
From September 2018 until August 2019, Kanji served as a law clerk to the Honorable Joseph A. Turula, P.J.Cv. in the Superior Court of New Jersey.
Rosalind T. Kaplan is a plaintiff鈥檚 attorney and was formerly a shareholder in the firm of Litvin, Blumberg, Matusow and Young, PA and later was a member of the firm of Jarve, Kaplan & Granato, LLC. She practices in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey in the areas of complex personal injury law, including medical malpractice, construction site accidents and premises and products liability.
Kaplan earned her BA, cum laude, from Brooklyn College, her MA (English) from the University of Maryland and her JD degree from Temple University Beasley School of Law, where she was an editor of the Temple Law Review. From 1977 to 1978, she was a law clerk to the Honorable J. Sydney Hoffman, Superior Court of Pennsylvania.
Kaplan has been an adjunct faculty member at Villanova Law since 1993, teaching civil pretrial practice. She has also taught trial advocacy at Temple University Beasley School of Law and the Academy of Advocacy. She regularly teaches at Temple Law鈥檚 LLM program in the Trial Advocacy Program and for the National Institute of Trial Advocacy (NITA). She served for many years on the Board of Governors of the Pennsylvania Association of Justice, where she chaired the Education and Amicus Curiae Committees and currently is on the Editorial Board of The Verdict. She teaches at various continuing legal education programs, writes amicus curiae briefs, serves in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas Judge Pro Tem program and is involved in several pro bono matters.
Janine Dunlap Kiah joined the faculty and staff in July 2022. She serves as adjunct faculty, teaching Public Interest Lawyering. Further, she is the inaugural director for public service and pro bono initiatives at 蜜桃TV Charles Widger School of Law.
Prior to joining the law school community, Dunlap Kiah served as the director for Pursuing Justice for Grandparents Raising Grandchildren in Pennsylvania Project at SeniorLAW Center, a 40+ year legal aid organization based in Philadelphia, PA. In this role, she managed a statewide initiative poised to increase access to legal representation, education, and resources to grandparents who become primary caretakers of minors due to parental absenteeism.
Prior to SeniorLAW Center, Dunlap Kiah practiced family law in Pennsylvania and New Jersey since 2007, the year she earned her Juris Doctorate from Villanova Law. She earned her BA in vocal music at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey and continues to enjoy a professional singing career as well, with a primary focus on sacred music.
Amy Kline is currently a partner at Saul Ewing LLP, representing reinsurers and cedents in litigation and arbitration. She specializes in the areas of commercial litigation, higher education and insurance. In conjunction with the members of the firm鈥檚 Insurance Practice, Kline publishes the Reinsurance Redux, a monthly 鈥榬edux鈥� on developments in the law of reinsurance and arbitration.
Through her involvement as a member of ARIAS-US (Arias Law Committee), Kline has spoken as a panelist and participated in mock arbitrations for Arbitrator Training Workshops. She received her BA from Boston Univeristy, cum laude, with distinction, and her JD from Villanova Law.
Tsiwen M. Law is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, where he helped to establish an Ethnic Studies Department. Law is one of the original instructors of Asian American Studies at Cal and has taught APA Studies at Michigan, Penn and Temple for over fifteen years. He was a labor activist and organizer for the Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union Local 42 and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, Automotive lodges 1305 and 606.
Before attending graduate school, he was a factory worker, journeyman welder and diesel tractor mechanic. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a Master of Public Health with a specialization in occupational epidemiology and industrial hygiene. He has worked at OSHA as a health scientist, at the Philadelphia Dept. of Public Health as an industrial hygienist and served on the PA Dept. of Environmental Protection working group on environmental justice.
After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, he helped to found the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of PA and the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association. He was the first APA to receive the Fidelity Award from the Philadelphia Bar Association and the second to receive the A. Leon Higginbotham Award from the Pennsylvania Bar Association for his work on Act 172, The Pa Court Interpreters Act signed by Governor Ed Rendell in 2006.
He is a recipient of the 2001 NAPABA Trailblazer Award and the AABA-DV Conscience of the Bar award for his work addressing the Golden Venture refugees. He was active on the committee to stop a baseball stadium from being constructed in Philadelphia's Chinatown. During his tenure as chairman of the Mayor鈥檚 Commission on Asian American Affairs, he put forward a program for Asian multilingual services in the City of Philadelphia. He currently practices real estate law at Law & Associates, LLC in Philadelphia.
Joseph Lesovitz is a partner in the Valuation and Forensic Services Group at Citrin Cooperman. Jeanine Linehan has served as a dedicated public servant enforcing the laws of the United States and respective communities for the past twenty-six years. Since 2002, Linehan has served as a federal prosecutor. Prior to that, she was an assistant district counsel for the Immigration & Naturalization Service and an assistant district attorney in Delaware County, Pennsylvania.
Following the terrorist attacks of 2001, Linehan worked in the National Security and Counterterrorism Unit of the United States Attorney鈥檚 Office for Eastern District of Virginia. There, she prosecuted individuals for material support to terrorist acts, national security violations and foreign atrocities. In addition to specializing in cases involving national security and foreign human rights abuses, she also prosecuted violent gang members of MS-13.
In 2011, Linehan returned home to Philadelphia, where she was born and raised, to join the United States Attorney鈥檚 Office in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. For the last nine years, Linehan has successfully prosecuted high-profile kidnappings, home invasions and arson cases as a member of the Violent Crime Unit. As the chief, she manages fifteen attorneys and handles a full caseload. In her leadership role, Linehan has contributed to doubling the number of cases prosecuted by the Violent Crime Unit, including increasing the number of state cases adopted from the City of Philadelphia.
Linehan also proposed a Hobbs Act Robbery deterrent initiative as part of the Department of Justice鈥檚 Project Safe Neighborhoods program. This focused enforcement involves advertising to intending criminals and law-abiding citizens that robberies of commercial establishments will be prosecuted federally. This deterrent initiative has been well received by the Department of Justice officials in Washington, all law enforcement and community partners throughout the United States.
Throughout her career, federal, state, and local enforcement and non-profit agencies have recognized Linehan鈥檚 tireless work successfully prosecuting a wide range of crimes and zealously advocating for victims. In September, Linehan received the Department of Justice鈥檚 prestigious Director鈥檚 Award.
Jim Logue is a shareholder at McCausland Keen + Buckman, where he frequently acts as outside general counsel for public as well as privately held companies and other entities. Logue鈥檚 area of expertise includes assisting with mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and other corporate and real estate transactions for more than 35 years. Kent Lollis recently retired from his role as vice president and chief diversity officer for the Law School Admissions Council (LSAC). At LSAC, he led key DEI initiatives, including the development of the Pre-Law Undergraduate Scholars (PLUS) Program and the expansion of pre-law programs available for underrepresented minority students at HBCUs, the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities, AANAPISI and Tribal Colleges and Universities. Prior to his work at LSAC, Lollis was the associate dean for Law Career Services and an associate professor of law at Ohio Northern University College of Law, as well as assistant dean for Administration and University Staff Grievance officer at the University of Louisville School of Law.
Over his career, he has held several board and committee positions with a variety of legal organizations, including a current membership role on the ABA Council for Racial and Ethnic Diversity in the Educational Pipeline.

Jeff Lutsky is a partner at Stradley, Ronon, Stevens & Young, LLP where he has practiced for 42 years. Lutsky has been co-chair of Stradley Ronon since 2021 and served as its managing partner from 2005-2023. He was the chair of the firm鈥檚 Litigation Department from 1998-2004.

Jerome Maiatico has served as a federal prosecutor for over a decade, investigating, prosecuting and supervising hundreds of criminal cases and parallel civil proceedings. Maiatico joined the US Department of Justice through the Attorney General鈥檚 Honors Program, first serving as a trial attorney in the Organized Crime & Racketeering Section in Washington, DC, before joining the US Attorney鈥檚 Office in Philadelphia. As a prosecutor, Maiatico has investigated a wide variety of cases, ranging from corporate fraud and insider trading to RICO murder and political corruption. He has handled many of the office鈥檚 most complex and high-profile prosecutions, including a homeland security case involving eight crewmen from a global commercial shipping company caught concealing over $1 billion of cocaine through the Philadelphia port, in one of the largest drug smuggling cases in US history; a health care fraud and tax evasion case involving a medical practice in Center City caught diverting nearly $2 million in cash from patients; and a prescription fraud case involving dozens of pharmacies and more than 100,000 oxycodone pills entering the black market during the height of the opioid epidemic.
Maiatico previously served as chief of the strike force unit, leading efforts on multiple RICO prosecutions of organized crime groups and collaborating with local and federal leaders to implement strategies focused on reducing violence in the city and improving public safety. He has earned numerous Department and agency awards, including the Director鈥檚 Award for Superior Performance, the ATF Director鈥檚 Honor Award, and Homeland Security鈥檚 Award for Outstanding Counter-Proliferation Case.
Maiatico graduated from Franklin & Marshall College with a degree in finance and government. He worked as a financial analyst with Goldman Sachs in New York before returning to graduate school. He earned his law degree from Duke University School of Law, where he also earned a master鈥檚 degree in public policy with a focus on criminal justice policy in Philadelphia. He began his legal career as a law clerk for the Honorable J. William Ditter, Jr., in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
Robert M. Maxwell is a senior estate accountant for Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP where he prepares estate and gift tax returns for clients of the firm and consults on estate-related matters. He is an adjunct professor at Villanova Law where he teaches Decedents' Estates and Trusts as well as Wealth Tax and Fundamentals of Testamentary Planning in the Graduate Tax Program. Prior to March of 2023, Maxwell worked at The Glenmede Trust Company, N.A. for over 23 years where he most recently served as director of estate and trust settlement in Glenmede鈥檚 Philadelphia office for the last nine years. He was responsible for oversight of all aspects of estate administration for estates where Glenmede served as executor including preparation of death tax returns, post-mortem planning and management of the court accounting group that prepares accountings for trusts and estates as required by the Courts. Before joining Glenmede in 1999, Maxwell was employed by First Union National Bank, first as an administrative officer in the Equipment Leasing Department and then as a tax officer in the Death Tax Unit.
Maxwell has been a lecturer and author for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and other professional continuing education organizations on such topics as Federal Estate and Gift Tax Preparation, Pennsylvania Inheritance Tax Preparation, Federal Estate Tax Portability, Generation-Skipping Transfer Tax, Powers of Appointment and the Responsibilities, Risks and Rewards of Estate Settlement.

Tiffani McDonough (she/her) is the director, Senior Counsel, Employment and Litigation for Louis Vuitton, where she manages all domestic and international employment matters and general litigation in the Americas region. In this role, she serves as a director in the Legal Department and provides employment and compliance counseling to Louis Vuitton Americas' operations, including all corporate offices, workshops and retail locations throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean and South America. She received the 2019 Rising Star in Luxury Law Award from the New York Luxury Law Summit. John Murphy is a judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Before being appointed to the court in 2022, Judge Murphy was an IP litigation partner at Baker & Hostetler in Philadelphia, where he focused on patent, copyright, trademark, trade secret and other intellectual property disputes. Judge Murphy is co-author of the fifth edition of Patent Litigation and Strategy (West 2017) along with Federal Circuit Chief Judge Kimberly A. Moore and Professor Timothy Holbrook. Judge Murphy also clerked for Chief Judge Moore. He attended Harvard Law School, where he was editor-in-chief of the Harvard Journal of Law and Technology. Travis P. Vince Nicastro is the deputy commissioner and chief operating officer of the Big East Conference. He previously served as the associate director of the Moorad Center, lending his knowledge of athletics and experience at Villanova to the education and improvement of the Center. Nicastro also served as director of athletics at Villanova from 2000 to 2015.
As the director of athletics, Nicastro was responsible for leading a Villanova Athletics Department that demonstrated a strong commitment to excellence both in competition and in the classroom. Villanova won 30 conference championships during his tenure, including 15 Big East titles alone in the 2013-14 and 2014-15 academic years. At the national level, the Wildcats won national championships in women鈥檚 cross country (2009, 2010) and football (2009) while also crowning 10 individual national champions.
Achievement in the classroom also remained a priority under Nicastro鈥檚 leadership. During his time as athletic director, Villanova student-athletes consistently earned composite GPAs above 3.1, while earning national recognition for graduation and NCAA academic progress rates. During the 2013-14 academic year, Jessica Wamala from women鈥檚 basketball became the third student-athlete in Villanova history to be named a Rhodes Scholar.
Nicastro was also active both inside and outside the University, serving on many key committees. He was a member of the 蜜桃TV President鈥檚 Cabinet and the University鈥檚 Administrative Budget Committee. Nicastro was also a member of the NCAA Division I Committee on Academic Performance and currently serves on the NCAA Division I Committee on Infractions. Gerald "Jerry" Pappert graduated with honors from 蜜桃TV in 1985 and from Notre Dame Law School in 1988.
Upon graduation from Notre Dame, Judge Pappert joined a large Philadelphia law firm where he conducted a general commercial litigation practice, primarily in the federal courts. In January of 1997, he became the Commonwealth鈥檚 First Deputy Attorney General. In that capacity, he successfully argued cases before the United States and Pennsylvania Supreme Courts. From 2003 to 2005, Judge Pappert was the Attorney General of Pennsylvania.
Upon leaving office, Judge Pappert resumed a litigation, regulatory and government enforcement practice with another large Philadelphia firm. In May 2008, he became the executive vice president and general counsel of Cephalon, Inc., a global biopharmaceutical company. After Cephalon鈥檚 acquisition by another pharmaceutical company, Judge Pappert returned to private practice in 2012, primarily representing individuals and companies facing regulatory and enforcement investigations. He also served as the chairman of the Pennsylvania Banking and Securities Commission from 2012 through 2014 and as a member of the Commonwealth Financing Authority from 2006 to 2012.
On June 16, 2014 Judge Pappert was nominated by the President Obama to serve to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. He was unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate on December 3, 2014, and began his service on the Court on January 5, 2015.
Beth Perez is the director of Intake and Pro Bono Services at the Support Center for Child Advocates in Philadelphia and also maintains her own caseload as a Child Advocate attorney. Perez is responsible for recruiting, training and supporting volunteers, supervising paralegal staff, as well as overseeing Child Advocates鈥� Internal Practice Group and ongoing outreach to Law Firm practice groups. Perez manages an intake of approximately 300 new cases each year assigned to agency staff and volunteer attorneys, including cases assigned from dependency court, domestic relations court, delinquency court and criminal court and acts as liaison to the Court and to the District Attorney鈥檚 Office. Prior to her work at Child Advocates, she was a child advocate attorney in the Child Advocacy Unit of the Defender鈥檚 Association of Philadelphia.
Perez serves as the Zone 1 co-chair of the Pennsylvania Bar Association鈥檚 Young Lawyer鈥檚 Division, a Young Life fellow of the Pennsylvania Bar Foundation, and serves as the Pennsylvania Bar Association鈥檚 Young Lawyer鈥檚 Division liaison to the Women in the Profession Committee, the Quality of Life/Balance Committee and the Lawyer Assistance Committee. Shea M. Rhodes, Esq. has dedicated her career to combating gender-based violence. As co-founder and director of the Institute to Address Commercial Sexual Exploitation (CSE Institute) at Villanova Law, Rhodes works with and for victims and survivors of commercial sexual exploitation. She is the statewide expert on Pennsylvania laws related to sex trafficking. Rhodes is a member of several anti-trafficking initiatives, including Philadelphia鈥檚 Anti-Trafficking Coalition, the Pennsylvania Anti-Human Trafficking Advocacy Work Group and Shared Hope International鈥檚 JuST Response Council. She also sits on the Executive Committees for World Without Exploitation and Dawn鈥檚 Place. William G. Roark '06 is a principal of Hamburg, Rubin, Mullin, Maxwell & Lupin and chair of the firm鈥檚 medical marijuana practice. He represents individuals and businesses in the medical marijuana industry by helping them comply with Pennsylvania鈥檚 Medical Marijuana Act. Because he has remained at the forefront of the legislative development and implementation of the Act, Roark has been asked to plan and present at various educational seminars teaching other professionals about this new law. Angela Ryan is the founder and managing attorney of a family law practice that serves the Greater Philadelphia Region. Anu Thomas is the executive director of Esperanza Immigration Legal Services (EILS) in North Philadelphia. Since 2021, Thomas has worked to ensure that low-income immigrants in Philadelphia have access to quality legal services, advocacy and education with a focus on the Latino community in the 19140 zip code and neighboring areas. Thomas founded an asylum docket at EILS, including both represented and pro se asylum seekers, and works with a host of legal interns and volunteers to deliver services. She serves as co-lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, teaching Refugee Law and Policy with the esteemed Professor Fernando Chang-Muy.
Prior to EILS, Thomas maintained a robust pro bono asylum docket for affirmative and defensive asylum seekers, while serving as labor and employment counsel at Ballard Spahr, LLP in Philadelphia. Arthur Traldi is an international criminal and international humanitarian law attorney. He has served as a prosecutor at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia and in Chambers at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda and the War Crimes Chamber of the State Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. His work and the work of his teammates are memorialized, for instance, in the documentary 鈥淭he Trial of Ratko Mladic.鈥� Prior to his international service, Traldi clerked for Justice Debra Todd on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court and Judge Arthur L. Zulick on the Monroe County Court of Common Pleas.

Shival Virmani is a seasoned patent attorney and licensing executive with over 25 years of experience in the intellectual property (IP) field, in particular patents. He has held roles in the federal government, private practice and publicly traded companies. He began his IP career as a patent examiner before becoming a litigator at the United States International Trade Commission and a large law firm.
Shival's corporate patent licensing career began overseas in Munich, Germany with a leading semiconductor company. Since then, and after returning to the United States, he has held pivotal roles in licensing within both the semiconductor and telecommunications industries licensing both implementation and standard essential patents. Shival has successfully secured over $1.5 billion in contracted revenue through patent licensing agreements with major companies in these industries.

Eric Weitz is the founder of The Weitz Firm, LLC, a national trial boutique. For over 30 years, Weitz has represented plaintiffs in a wide array of personal injury and commercial disputes.
