What's New in vDesktop

Prior to the start of the Fall 2024 semester, UNIT performed an update to the vDesktop Citrix environment.  Some of the key highlights of this update can be found below. 

New URL

  • The new landing page for vDesktop is . 
  • The current URL will redirect to the new URL following the update. 
  • Please update any bookmarks you may have to point to the new URL.

Logon Experience 

  • The logon page is new and requires faculty, staff, and students to enter the Villanova user ID to login (similar to Microsoft Office).

  • All connections will now require multi-factor authentication in line with best practice from UNIT Information Security. 

Resource Rebrand

  • "vDesktop 2019" is being renamed to "vDesktop Standard".  The new vDesktop Standard published desktop will include the following major and minor software releases. 
    • Major software releases include: 
      • Alteryx 2024.1
      • Maple 2024
      • Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 19 
      • Minitab 22.1
      • Wolfram Mathematica 14 
    • Minor software releases include: 
      • ArcGIS Pro 3.3

Duo multifactor authentication is required to access critical web-based Villanova resources from any on or off-campus location. 

TechZone @ The Commons!

The new facility offers flexible workspaces, meeting rooms and training areas that will enable students to work collaboratively with UNIT and provide walkup support.

As Banner 8 is nearing its end of service at Villanova, it is time to for users to start transitioning to Banner 9. UNIT is holding Banner 9 training sessions each month to support the transition. Sign up, class size is limited.

Wifi Printing is currently NOT supported in the Residence Hall.  Unit recommends students connect with bluetooth enabled devices.

Internet Ready/SMART TV and Gaming devices, such as Apple TV, Roku, XBOX and others may have limited functionality with our network configurations.

Many students on campus may wish to connect to a VPrint printer using their own laptop. This is an option, however a print driver will have to be installed on the laptop. Visit this page for instructions.
